Title | Iggo, Ainsley: certificate of election to the Royal Society |
Date | 1974 |
Description | Citation typed |
Citation | Ainsley Iggo is distinguished for his work on unmyelinated fibres and on the touch receptors of the skin. He was the first to isolate single unmyelinated fibres in mammalian cutaneous nerves and to show that they include a variety of types differing in modality and threshold only some of which are concerned in pain. His work on touch receptors helped to destroy the view that cutaneous receptors were 'non specific'. |
