His proposal for a Giant Meter-wavelength Radio Telescope of collecting area 100,000 sq.m. has been funded for implementation. He has been responsible for competence in India for the design and fabrication of antennas of all types. His principal research contributions have covered: lunar occultations of weak extra-galactic radio sources using ORT; angular-size flux-density relation for these, along with angular size counts, to provide independent evidence against the Steady State Model; characteristics of jets, cores and hot spots of quasars; etc. He has developed a large body of young radio astronomers of very high quality. |
