Citation | Professor Ben Joseph Green Ben Green is a rising star, and universally acknowledged as one of the best mathematicians under 30 in the world. He has proved a number of remarkable results in arithmetic combinatorics, the highlight of which is his proof, with Terence Tao, that the prime numbers contain arithmetic progressions of all lengths. This introduces a major new technique - analysing the primes by first embedding them into a slightly larger "highly pseudorandom" set - and solves a very old problem. Recently, Green and Tao have proved a significant generalization and strengthening of this result, and they are working on generalizing it still further. Green has received many prizes, including a Clay Research Award, the Salem Prize and the Ostrowski prize.
