Citation | Andrew McKenzie is Head of Division at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology. He has made major contributions to immunology and haematology, providing fundamental new insights into how host responses become misdirected in asthma and allergy, and producing the first mouse model of the human myelodysplasia, 5q-syndrome. Especially notable was his major breakthrough in understanding the innate regulatory pathways that control asthma and allergy through the characterisation of novel immune-regulatory type-2 innate lymphoid cells. His discoveries have led to new areas of research and novel therapeutic strategies to prevent allergic inflammatory diseases. |
