Title | Williams, Charlotte Katherine: certificate of election to the Royal Society |
Date | 21 April 2021 |
Description | Certificate endorsing election of Charlotte Williams as a Fellow of the Royal Society. Includes personal details of the elected Fellow, citation giving the reasons for election, and names of proposers. Signed by the Executive Director of the Royal Society, Julie Maxton. |
Citation | Charlotte Williams is distinguished for making highly original advances in polymerization catalysis and polymer chemistry - advancing our understanding of polymerisation reaction mechanisms and transferring new technologies to the market place. She has pioneered efficient ways of preparing and applying polymers derived from renewable resources and using catalysts based on readily available elements, and her research has greatly facilitated the transformation of greenhouse gas carbon dioxide into useful new materials. Her discoveries include low-pressure catalysts for efficient copolymerization of carbon dioxide and epoxides, and a switchable and selective polymerization method for converting monomer mixtures into specific multi-block polymers. |
