Citation | Duncan Lorimer is a leading astrophysicist and observational radio astronomer whose main focus has been on pulsars and other manifestations of neutron stars. His many discoveries include a new astrophysical phenomenon, Fast Radio Bursts, the first of which was named after him, and for which he was awarded the prestigious Shaw Prize (2023). His innovative work on signal processing and instrumentation place him at the head of a research group whose wide interests include transient radio sources, astrophysical source populations and observational tests of general relativity. He is a founding and leading member of a large consortium of observers who recently reported the detection of nano-hertz gravitational waves. |
