Title | Marusic, Ivan: certificate of election to the Royal Society |
Date | 21 April 2024 |
Description | Certificate endorsing election of Ivan Marusic as a Fellow of the Royal Society. Includes personal details of the elected Fellow, citation giving the reasons for election, and names of proposers. Signed by the Executive Director of the Royal Society, Julie Maxton. |
Citation | Professor Marusic is known for his pioneering research in experimental and theoretical studies of turbulence at high Reynolds numbers, including atmospheric surface layers and aquatic ecosystems. He has made major contributions to wind tunnel design and developed novel measurement techniques and data analysis tools applicable to turbulent flows. He has elucidated the mechanics in turbulent shear flows particularly those associated with wall boundary layers, and made major contributions to physical modelling of wall turbulence using the attached eddy hypothesis. His experimental measurements have been used to improve computational simulations and to optimise wind energy harvesting using PVDF and other materials. |
