DescriptionThe file contains letters to and from Sir Joseph, who acted as Chair of the North Borneo Expeditions Committee. The majority of the correspondence is from D C Martin, the Assistant Secretary or written on his behalf. Topics of correspondence include; arranging dates and times for the Committee to meet, changes to the personnel serving on the Committee, approval of Committee minutes and grants for the expedition, as well as work on the findings of the expedition. Later correspondence between G E Hemmen and Hutchinson relates to specifics of the second expedition, and in particular Dr Smart leaving the expedition early.
