DescriptionLarge file of papers, mostly correspondence relating to the propose expedition to Tristan da Cunha, as well as details of planning the expedition. The content of the file has some crossover with other logisitc and planning files. Correspondence includes discussions of the safety of the planned expedition, findings of Harris and Le Maitre's preliminary observations, personnel selection, equipment, transport arrangements and work of the expedition [also see EXP/4/2/3].
Includes some notes and general papers such as a proposal by D O Dykes, Lieutenant Commander, Royal Navy regarding communication arrangments and notes prepared by George Hemmen, covering all aspects of expedition planning. Also council document C/158(61), giving recommendations of the South Pacific Expedition Committee with regards to an expedition to Tristan da Cunha, this document does not appear to have been duplicated in the committee minute books or Council papers.
