Description | The small file of correspondence from representatives of the Royal Society to staff at the Colonial Office. This includes letters from Martin Holdgate [Convener of the Tristan da Cunha study group] to R G Pettitt, at the Colonial Office asking for information in order to complete an Encyclopaedia Britannica entry, as well as a letter from Dr D C Martin [Executive Secretary] informing C G Eastwood, Assistant Under-Secretary of State for the Colonial Office about the Royal Society's future plans for research on the Tristan Island group which leads to more correspondence between Holdgate and Pettitt.
