TitleLetter from Hugh Cairns, Bamburgh to Howard Walter Florey
Date23 February 1936
DescriptionThinks best maximum number of students to be accepted each year into Clinical School at Oxford after Final Honours School is about 12 - asks how many take Final Honours School each year and how many of these are first class people - wonders if science departments could take a number of recent graduates each year for one year's postgraduate training - comments on this and discusses his idea for a two year period of general instruction after graduation for medical students, one year to be spent in clinical departments and one year in basic sciences departments - thinks this would give graduates a greatly improved outlook - suggests they discuss this plan when they meet.
