TitleLetter from Arthur Fawcett, Butter Information Council, Waterloo Road, London to Howard Walter Florey
Date8 December 1960
DescriptionCouncil alarmed at attacks on consumption of animal fats as likely to cause atherosclerosis and coronary thrombosis - puzzled by contradictory evidence - would welcome authoritative statement - impressed by Florey's Jephcott Lecture and by Robb-Smith's letter in Lancet - strong body of opinion that the increase in coronary disease cannot be attributed to one factor - less butter eaten in United Kingdom than before the last war - in thirteen Western countries examined, seems little correlation between butter consumption and deaths from coronary disease - would welcome Florey's advice - says he shall be in Oxford on 15 December.
