Letters were copied using a Brunel's copying machine to preserve the original handwriting.
Inscribed 'Mr Herschel, 9 Downing Street', with an asterix 'All these letters are copied on blue paper by J. H.' [John Herschel]
A label pasted on cover 'as these have been copied I have not bothered to catalogue them, but will catalogue the copies' signed Robin Kenneth Bluhm (Royal Society Librarian) dated 19 January 1953. |
