DescriptionAutograph letter signed by sender. Hopes he is safely landed. The government have agreed to give financial assistance to set up an observatory at Edinburgh. Financial difficulties at the Royal Society [of London] Dispute between James South and Edward Troughton. Admiralty has referred the question of the printing of [Stephen] Groombridge's catalogue to Francis Baily and G. B. Airy. Has received the Royal Medals on behalf of John Frederick William Herschel. John Frederick William Herschel has also been awarded the Lalande medal.
