Title | Letter, from Robert Leslie Ellis to [Sir John Herschel], dated at Belgrave Place, Brighton |
Creator | Ellis; Robert Leslie (1817-1859) |
Date | 6 August 1850 |
Description | Autograph letter signed by sender. Is sorry to hear of Miss Simpson's illness. Would like to keep Sir John Herschel's letter a little longer, but it has not changed his original opinion. Is aware Herschel gave a demonstration to William Thomson, natural philosophy professor. Suggests a few remarks on the demonstration should be put togethor and published in either the Philosophical Magazine or another journal, and would oblige Herschel if he would like to see them before publication. Remarks on Herschel's recommendation of Galloway's Theory of Probabilities, and refers to Gauss's Theoria combinationis observationum. |
