TitleLetter from Gustav Solling, Hotel zum Adler, Wiesbaden, to Sir John [Frederick William] Herschel
CreatorSolling; Gustav ( - ); German literary critic
Date4 March 1868
DescriptionGiving thanks to Herschel for the translation of Schiller's great poem ['Der Spaziergang']. He has rendered the work accessible for the educated all over the world. His labours will bear fruit for the moral lessons contained within the poem and students will devote themselves to German literature. Miss [Elizabeth] Colling informed him of the intention to forward the poem, but his not having written for some months meant that she could not continue the subject and his movements had been uncertain. He apologises for the delay in acknowledging the gift.
