| Description | Commencing with the address of the Royal Astronomical Society and the advice that this should be kept seperately in mind from the Royal Society when writing. He is uncertain whether both of Mira's volumes should be sent to the Astronomical Society and had in mind other relics besides manuscripts to be sent. His intention is that everything scientific should go to learned societies, keeping only family materials. He notes the manuscripts already given to the Royal Society, and items in the history of photography sent to the Science Museum. Maps are to go to the Royal Geographical Society. He will make an offer to the Astronomical Society and his letter has opened the subject. |
