TitleLetter from J L E [John Louis Emil] Dreyer, the Observatory, Armagh, to Sir W J [William James] Herschel
CreatorDreyer; John Louis Emil (1852-1926); Danish astronomer and historian
Date13 March 1911
DescriptionHe is obliged to Sir William for the prompt answer to his enquiries. The corrections were not all in the printed errata list, saving time and trouble. The first batch of copy has now gone to the printer and he hopes to get on faster. The slip he mentioned was also in the Edinburgh Observatory set of papers, which had belonged to [Charles] Babbage, probably given by Sir William's father. In the first list of 1,000 nebulae 'Miss C.H.' [Caroline Herschel] has added register numbers and some corrections. Her zone catalogue is of great value and Dreyer wishes he had it in 1887 when preparing his new general catalogue of nebulae.
