CreatorHerschel; Sir William James; second baronet (1833-1917); British developer of fingerprinting and judge
Daten.d. [November 1860]
DescriptionShe has received a letter from her husband referring to 'Willy' [William James Herschel], which she quotes from. It is a feather in his cap to be appointed to Kishnagur and William is gaining golden opinions as a magistrate. There is bad feeling throughout the indigo regions of Bengal, and there has been actual violence between planter and ryotts, and therefore William will need his best wits.

Possibly the extract referred to William James Herschel's letter to his sister Amelia, HS/3/8/21.
