DescriptionAn official despatch referring to the application of the Indigo Planters' Association for the removal of W J Herschel as Magistrate of Nuddea. 'The result of the investigation is highly creditable to Mr. Herschel, and as such entitled him to the cordial support of the local Government in conducting the duties of his difficult position'.

Headed; 'Extract of a Despatch about to be sent to India on the subject of the Indigo Disturbances'. With an embossed stamp of the Secretary of State for India.

Efforts by the indigo planters to remove William James Herschel from his position are referred to in HSF/3/8/18.
