The trip was arranged so that Sir John Vane could be presented with an honorary defree from the Fu Jen Catholic University (along with Jack McGiff) and deliver a lecture at a Nobel forum. The file also includes Sir John Vane's copy of the publication, 'President Chen Shui-bian's selected addresses and messages (I): A new era of peace and prosperity' (English), published by the Republic of China's Government Information Office.
