First suggested the modification of Weyl's theory by making gauge transfer imaginary, now generally accepted, also the conception of matrix length which now forms the basis of micro-geometry. Was the first to introduce the new conceptions of space and time measurement and to conclude that there are smallest lengths and times. This led (1927) to prediction of 97 as limit to atomic numbers. When radium was first used in large masses for medical purposes in England he was put in charge of its physical manipulation and has been associted with it ever since. In this connection he has published six papers on design of apparatus, protective measures and measurement of intensity.
