Description | Daily meteorological observations made at the Royal Observatory, Greenwich, in Kent. Two sets of printed forms: '1st Form Meteorological Observations Uncorrected', and '2nd Form Corrected Meteorological Results'. The uncorrected observations [1st Form] contain a main table, with printed columns for date and lunar cycle, barometer readings at 3.00am, 9.00am, 3.00pm and 9.00pm, with temperature of mercury; temperature and dew point; wet bulb thermometer readings at the same times; maximum and minimum temperature and actimometer; temperature of sea or running water [not completed]; wind direction and strength at the same observational times; rainfall; electricity [not completed]; with general remarks. Below the main table is a secondary table for uncorrected and corrected hourly observations for the 21st day of the month.
The corrected observations [2nd Form] has printed columns for date and lunar cycle, atmospheric pressure at 3.00am, 9.00am, 3.00pm and 9.00pm, elasticity of vapour at those times, minimum, maximum and mean temperature, and general remarks. Below the main table, temperature and pressure are given in graphical form.
In addition to the data, there are various manuscript annotations, including [p.1]: 'All these Barometer readings are with the instrument in the Circle room...'; and [p.3] 'These corrected readings of the Barometer are reduced to the Royal Society's Standard flint glass'.
