Description | Daily meteorological observations made at 8.00am, midday, and at 4.00pm. Columns for the date, thermometer readings 'M-N-E' [morning noon and evening], with remarks on the wind and weather.
With a sketch of the thermometer being used, by Bennet of London [pp.10-11]. The date of the manuscript coincides with Joseph Banks's expedition to Labrador and Newfoundland in 1766.
Headed [p.1]: 'A Daily Account kept of the Thermometer at York Fort in Pitts Harbour in Labradore in the Latitude 52:00 N. ..the Thermometer was hung up wihout the House on the West Side'. Stamped 'Soc. Reg. Lond.' and inscribed 'Presented by Sir Joseph Banks Bart. Pr. R.S. Jany. 19 1792'. Inscribed [p.12]: 'Account of the Thermometer of York Fort Labrador 1766-1767'. |
