| Description | Daily meteorological readings at the Royal Society's apartments at Somerset House, London, England. There are two sets of observations, from 9.00 a.m and 3.00 p.m. Both have basic readings of air pressure and temperature from flint glass and crown glass barometers with an attached thermometer, and an external thermometer, The morning readings also have highest and lowest points of a 'self-registering' [thermometer], with wet and dry bulb thermometer readings and the difference. Below these, general remarks on weather and cloud conditions.
The forms appear to have been arranged in two monthly batches [eg January-February, etc.] as several blank forms are inserted at the two monthly intervals in the earlier portion of the volume. The 'Meteorological Journal', kept by the Assistant Secretary, was published in the Philosophical Transactions each year, usually in parts during the year. |
