Title | Letter from A C [Alfred Charles] Egerton, Kreuzspital, Chur, [Switzerland], to [David Christie] Martin, [Assistant Secretary of the Royal Society] |
Creator | Egerton; Sir; Alfred Charles Glyn (1886-1959); British chemist |
Recipient | Martin; Sir; David Christie (1914-1976); British scientific administrator |
Date | 30 May 1947 |
Description | Egerton thanks Martin for the information provided for the address to the Chemical Society for their Centenary. He has put together a provisional first chapter and suggests it be submitted to the President and Secretaries for their consideration. Egerton is returning the letter of D [Douglas] Veale and shares his thoughts on the contents. He then discusses the Report of the Empire Scientific Conference; he is in favour of Martin's recommendation of the printing of 2,500 copies, and feels that 250 copies kept in reserve should be sufficient. He feels that this should be supplied to those who played a part in the conference and discusses this distribution further. He thanks Martin for the minutes of the latest Council meeting. He is 'glad that the question of the adhesion of the Royal Society and the International Union of Crystallography' has been considered. Egerton is still awaiting the decision of the surgeon regarding his leg. |
