Title | Letter from Robert Jameson, Edinburgh to William Buckland, Oxford |
Date | 31 December 1821 |
Description | The day after receiving Buckland's letter, Jameson was taken ill with 'fever, croup, a rare disease at my time of life, & inflammation of the oesophagus'. He is now convalescing and can acknowledge the letter. The whale skeleton is in an imperfect state, particularly the head, and therefore no satisfactory drawings could be sent to Cuvier. As soon as he is able, Jameson will get the parts unpacked. He has no room in the museum, but if any drawing or description can be done, it shall be sent to Buckland. Jameson asks that Buckland tell Cuvier that he is printing a fourth edition of his 'Essay on the theory of the Earth' and requests any additional notes that might be provided. |
