Title | Letter from Francis Beaufort, 8 Mills Terrace, Brighton to Edward Sabine |
Date | 21 September 1857 |
Description | Beaufort discusses the support Sabine provided to the ‘Behring’ Strait expedition. In Beaufort’s opinion there are few men who would have carried out Sabine’s instructions as efficiently as his friend Maguire, and remarks on ‘inquiries about survivors’. Once they reach Mackenzie River all will be ‘satisfied with the results’. Beaufort expresses his admiration Dr [Humphrey] Lloyd’s oration. |
