Title | Letter from John Caldecott, Suez to Edward Sabine |
Date | 20 February 1841 |
Description | Caldecott informs Sabine Mr [George Robbins] Gliddon would like to talk with ‘influential members of the Royal Society’ regarding a scientific matter and has asked Caldecott for an introduction to Sabine. Caldecott praises Gliddon describing him as ‘gentlemanly’, remarks on his assistance in ‘forwarding the magnetic affairs at Cairo’, his familiarity with Egypt and hieroglyphical research. Caldecott is unaware of the scientific matter Gliddon wishes to discuss with Sabine but is confident Sabine will enjoy his conversation. |
