Description | Brunnfeld thanks Sabine for his ‘kindness’ and for selecting his magnetical instruments. Discussion regarding the magnetic observations taken at Rio de Janeiro. Refers to the difference between the declination he observed and that of Captain [Robert] FitzRoy. Brunnfeld discusses how he determined the absolute declination at Rio de Janeiro on 25th March 1846. Discussion regarding the declination over time. Discusses his observation of the unifilar magnetometer, and the difference between the minimum and the maximum. Refers to communication with Captain Bellegarde, and discusses observations made by Bento Sanches Dorta. Refers to an English mining establishment. Expresses his intentions for additional observations. Brunnfeld apologises for writing his letter in incorrect English. |
