| Description | Wheatstone is unable to attend the next meeting of the British Association. Wheatstone refers to a ‘notice’ in which he outlined the objectives that should be put into effect at Kew Observatory in his opinion. Wheatstone suggests the proposal of a grant for magnetic instruments and pendulum experiments should come Sabine, and the optical instruments from Mr [William Henry Fox] Talbot at the meeting. Wheatstone asks about the ‘Captive Balloon Committee’, and discussion regarding his success in constructing an instrument which provides more accurate and extensive information. |
