| Description | Updates the Treasury on Sir [Charles Thomas] Wyville Thomson's application for an additional grant and extension of time to publish the reports of the Challenger Expedition. The Royal Society advises these should be granted but have requested extra information. That is 1: a statement of expenditure to the current year, 2: a statement of the conditions of the volumes now in publishing, 3; an estimate of the expenditure of the 2 years of which the grant will be spent on. The Comptroller of the Stationary Office has already been approached in regards to one of these questions [See MS/427/119] |
