Title | Letter from Sir Clements Markham, 21 Eccleston Square, to A B [Alfred Bray] Kempe |
Creator | Markham; Sir; Clements Robert (1830-1916) |
Date | 21 November 1899 |
Description | Agrees it will be better to avoid discussion about the £76.6.5 at the Joint Committee meeting. The Royal Geogrpahical Society council will not agree to "clause 5 of the Memorandum" [relating to the Executive Committee] being cancelled wihtout a satisfactory substitute. Suggests putting a resolution on the agenda for the Joint Committee meeting on 4 December to give the Treasurer authority to pay all Expedition bills that have been certified by the Executive Committee. Markham intends to get the bill approved by the Executive Committee before the Joint Committee meets. Also notes £1000 subscribed for the expedition by the Queensland Government, and Mr [Alfred Charles William] Harmsworth has paid half of his £5000 subscription, promising the rest by Christmas. |
