TitleLetter from R [Robert Falcon Scott], H M S Bulwark, Channel Fleet, to Sir Archibald [Geikie]
CreatorScott; Robert Falcon (1868-1912); Royal Navy officer; Antarctic explorer
RecipientGeikie; Sir; Archibald (1835-1924)
Date23 November 1908
DescriptionScott wishes the that matters concerning the Meteoroglogical Volume could be settled, but cannot let the misstatements go unchallenged. In the course of his investigation he has found Dr [Charles] Chree's 1908 presidential address to the Physical Society, which Scott believes can be interprested as an attack on the Antarctic Expedition. Scott accepts that the conduct of the Expedition is not beyond genuine criticism, but he 'must strongly object to statements of disparagement which can easily be found to have no foundation in fact'.
