Title | Letter from J [John] Brown, Edenderry House, to [Joseph] Larmor |
Creator | Brown; John (1850-1911); British manufacturer |
Date | 25 January 1889 |
Description | He would like to talk with Larmor about the future education of his sons, which he has been thinking a good deal about. In Belfast, there is 'mere grinding for Intermediate exams'. He asks if Larmor can think of any good schoolmasters, quoting Patrick Geddes on the education of children. He does not think it wise to send the boys to a boarding school. Larmor need not trouble to reply to his dry letter about dropping electrodes, he has received a paper from Vienna which helped. He thinks Helmholtz quite wrong in his conclusion and this has led Ostirala and other on a wild goose chase. Brown has been experimenting with a variety of dropping things and is thinking of putting a paper together. It might do for the electolysis committee since he has not started work on it. It seems a long time since he heard from Larmor. |
