Title | Letter from J [John] Brown, Longhurst, Dunmurry, Belfast, to [Joseph] Larmor |
Creator | Brown; John (1850-1911); British manufacturer |
Date | 22 April 1897 |
Description | He has spoken to [Maurice Frederick] Fitzgerald about the Everett portrait, putting Larmor's views to him. Fitzgerald did not seem to approve, having discussed with others. He undertook to ask 'his uncle Stoney' about it and Brown gave him a fortnight to do so, but yesterday Brown learned that he had not written yet. He suggests that they run it outside the college without approaching its professors. He expects to hang the picture. Brown sympathises with Larmor over his influenza, 'a wretched disease'. It was as well that Larmor did not visit at Easter as the weather was poor. He hopes that Larmor will send a copy of his new paper. Brown has been designing a new sailing boat for the boys, testing a model for stability and wind force. |
