| Description | He can now report on the completion of the publication of his New Theory of the Aether, which is at hand, in a special number of the Astronomische Nachrichten. A presentation copy will be sent in a few weeks. He has thanked Professor [Hermann] Kobold for the beautiful appearence of the seventh paper and in his letter he reflected on how fortunate it was that he did not depend upon the Royal Society, which had the chance of publishing this great advance in 1914, 'but threw the chance away'. He criticises the Royal Society's actions in upholding [George Ellery] Hale at Pasadena, the magnetic survey of the Carnegie Institute, and Einsteinism: The Society would have to answer for 'such an unpardonable sin as this!' and should 'beware the ghost of the revered Newton!' |
