| Description | He had heard from Perry that [Oliver] Heaviside has been granted a Civil List pension. This is confidential, but the petition signatories should be aware of it. It may have been gazetted already, but Fitzgerald had been too lazy to write to Thomson or [Joseph] Larmor, and the latter should be told. Fitzgerald wonders if Larmor has thought of the Presidency of Galway College, following the resignation of Sir Thomas Moffatt, which is worth £750. He complains about the quality of glassblowing in Dublin, amd the poor supply of mercury pumps and vacuum tubes. He comments on [John] Joly's work; Joly has just gone to America about his patents on colour photography. |
