| Description | Discussing the matter of a Royal Society Memoir for Sir William Huggins. Margaret Huggins notes that she is aware that Professor Kayser is not a Foreign Member of the Royal Society, but does not think this would disqualify him from writing the memoir, as he is a 'master of the subject to be dealt with in the Memoir', although she is aware that Kayser's 'Handbuch der Sppectroscopie' is considered by mathematicians 'disappointing on the mathematical side'. She also suggests Sir R [Robert] Ball and Dr [Arthur] Schuster. Huggins then compliments Larmor's memoir of Lord Kelvin. Huggins then discusses Professor [Hugh Frank] Newall's article, noting that while she does not doubt his good intentions, she was 'dismayed' by an incorrect statement he has made. |
