| Description | Stating his opinion that 'a Fellow has the right to see a paper after it has been read, or if the Council is not in session, after it has been accepted for publication by the Secretaries'. [William] Ramsay suggests an amendment of the table to go into the addendum. In the Comptes Rendus there is 'an important paper by Madame [Marie] Curie -a model of directness and lucidity - which seems to be conclusive that Ramsay has made a mistake in announcing the transmutation of Ca into Li. She is more than a match for Ramsay'. Rutherford has sent Huggins a photograph of the radium emission spectrum. Huggins is very sorry to hear of the death of his 'Master' [Charles Taylor]. Regarding Taylor's wife [Margaret Sophia Dillon], he writes that 'the least the College can do to show their sympathy is to attach her to the office, the new Master marrying her so that she need not leave the Lodge'. |
