Title | Letter from H F [Hugh Frank] Newall, Madingley Rise, Cambridge, to [Joseph] Larmor |
Creator | Newall; Hugh Frank (1857-1944) British astrophysicist and educational benefactor |
Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
Date | 7 July 1900 |
Description | It gave Newall real pleasure to learn that Larmor had been awarded the Hopkins Prize and he hopes that Larmor is working on further developments which will garner other awards. He wishes he had 'the time and brain' to get through Larmor's book, but so many things need attention he had not enough energy. He does not think Common [?] wanted to talk business when they met. H ewould have liked to show Larmor, [Arthur] Schuster, and [George] Fitzgerald the eclipse photographs, as it woudl have been profitable to have their views. He asks for a line to say he has received the Hopkins cheque for £87. |
