Title | Letter from W D [William Davidson] Niven, Eastburn, Sidcup, to [Joseph] Larmor |
Creator | Niven; Sir William Davidson (1842-1917); British mathematician |
Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
Date | 7 July 1907 |
Description | He has read the paper ['The dispersion of double refraction in relation to crystal structure'] by [Thomas Henry] Havelock sent by Larmor to report upon. Niven is not quite fit to judge it, but as far as he can, it is very good. He will know more on a second reading. The more general case which concerned Larmor at the end of the paper is of less importance than what preceeds it. It is not easy to test and the author might keep that part back for now. He asks if Larmor is coming to visit, giving an account of his forthcoming movements and dining out. |
