| Description | Arthur Samuels was there the week before and had Ridgeway known of Larmor, he would have invited him over for political gossip. Ridgeway thanks him for his kind words on Ridgeway's oration, commenting upon how it was reported in various newspapers. He thinks it shameless how Ray Lankester and others are denouncing the Germans. It is of a piece with 'hyperpatriotic rascals' such as Mond, Brunner and Haldane in the House of Lords. 'The Times' only thinks of 'niggling at Kitchener', while Scott of the Mancheter Guardian 'is strong on fighting to a successful issue'. |
