Ridgeway asks why the Council of the Senate does not advance the interests of the University, thinking that it engages in factional politics and the destruction of the Humane Studies. Had he not asked the General Board of Studies to take up the matter of research degrees, nothing would have been done by the Council. He notes a paragraph he has written for 'The Indiaman' on longer periods of probation for Indian candidates. Ridgeway expresses delight on [Arthur] Samuels's success and he hopes that Samuels will be made Solicitor-General. |
