| Description | He thanks Larmor for answering his question so quickly. He dicusses Larmor's accompanying note [not present] in which he gets stresses for shear increasing, comparing this to his analysis and asking if Larmor objects to his equations. 'The pressure of distortion at steel waves is at present undecided in the arithmetic', he writes, noting that second order waves carry pressure and that they were an octave highter; sound waves may be treated in the same way. He concludes by wondering 'Why did you pull the string on this showerbath?' |
