| Description | Poynting sees no way for [Hugh Longbourne] Callendar to avoid Larmor's conclusion. He discusses Callendar's latent heat analogue, where he represents energy transmitted through the boundary, and he cannot see anything explaining why it is not transmitted that way in the case of radiation. He gives equations and notes where Callendar is difficult to follow. He concludes with concern that Callendar might reply with a letter to Nature, and 'I dare not risk it'. He saw Walker's formula, 'it is remarkably simple if true'. |
