| Description | In view of the controversy between Science and the Humanities in education, he asks if Larmor could write an article on science having a larger place on the school curriculum, especially in public schools. It should be short, and to be combined with another article pleading the case of the Humanities. He thinks that Larmor could do this 'with wisdom & moderation', unlike [Edwin Ray] Lankester. The other side would have a similar spirit. He believes that Classics would have to cede ground to Science. If Larmor is willing, they could settle particulars later, but he needs about 5,000 words. In a postscript he wonders if J.J. [Joseph John] Thomson would write it, if Larmor could not. |
