TitleLetter from George Ellery Hale, Pasadena, California, to [Arthur] Schuster
CreatorHale; George Ellery (1868-1938); American astrophysicist
RecipientSchuster; Sir Arthur [formerly Franz Arthur Friedrich] (1851-1934); German physicist
Date14 October 1932
DescriptionHe appreciated Schuster's friendly cable regarding the Copley Medal. He has cabled thanks but repeats this to Schuster. His researches would have been more productive if he had better health and freedom from other tasks. The medal will strengthen bonds of friendship with England. He and Schuster went through many experiences together, most with the Royal Society and these are foremost in his mind. He owes much the Schuster, including support in the earlier part of his work. He has thought much about his visit since his return to Pasadena last June and if he can get to England again he will count on another opportunity to talk with Schuster. In a postscript, he notes that his wife is recovering from a broken ankle.
