TitleLetter, Edward James Wayland, P.O. Box 9, Entebbe, Uganda, to Percy George Hamnall Boswell
Date11 July 1935
DescriptionGiving thanks for Boswell's letter of 25 July, London heat waves are dreadful. He wishes Morley Davies good luck in his retirement. He has heard from Leakey that Nature found the letter too long, which is perhaps just as well. Leakey writes to tell him that he has found sediments yielding fossils at Olduvai, but nothing human so far. He notes the news that Bullard has been voicing his views in London - he wonders if at the Royal Geographical Society? Wayland is glad he has done so. News of Bailey Willis and Nilsson. Wayland's bargain for the British Association (1934) literature. Boswell has mentioned the new prospective governor and Wayland will take the opportunity to tell him what the country needs by way of a geological survey. He gives thanks for the trouble Boswell has taken with the London doctorate, although he does not feel inclined to register for the PhD at his time in life. Simmons is retiring next year. Wayland has just returned from an interesting tour of the gold mining areas.
