| Description | Thanking Hatchett and his wife for presents. He has consulted with Sir Everard Home on the best means of alerting members to Hatchett's resolution concerning the Animal Chemistry Club. A short note to each member would be proper and this has been done. Brande will tell Chantrey the whole story on Tuesday. 'The President was in a very ill humour' at the Society on Thursday. Sir Everard proposed Mr Canning, while the President thought Mr Frost the botanist 'not dignified enough'. Weston protested at the President's interference. Brande begins lecturing at the Royal Institution and shall muster his friends 'in case Sir H[umphry Davy] should attempt any dirty trick'. |
